ART HOLIDAYS
For over two decades, I have led painting holidays and workshops in the UK, Spain, Greece, Turkey, and the United States. Working across acrylic, watercolour, and oil, I respond directly to each location through mark-making, colour, and gesture. Whether painting coastal horizons, urban rhythms, or rural terrain, I am drawn to the sense of movement within landscapes—the way places shift through time, weather, and human presence. Earlier training in performance coaching and facilitation subtly informs my approach to teaching, helping to create a calm, supportive atmosphere that encourages confidence and openness, while the focus remains firmly on painting as a process of looking, responding, and inhabiting a place.
Travel and cultural immersion are central to both my teaching and my personal work. I speak Spanish fluently and have working knowledge of Italian and French, which allows for close engagement with local cultures and everyday life. I have led painting retreats in Spain, Turkey, Greece, the UK, and the United States, each grounded in direct experience of place. These environments encourage a slower, more attentive way of seeing, where observation, walking, and return visits deepen visual understanding.

The holidays are based at the Lagou Raxi Hotel a Mediterranean Centre for Art, Gardens Plants and Design, in Lafkos the South Pelion. It is therefore a wonderful opportunity to be invited along to run Plein Air courses exclusively in these inspiring surroundings. I will be joined by past and new participants to capture a sense of place in Greece through a unique colour palette and freestyle approach. Our sessions will take place in the village, by the sea and at the Hotel. I will guide you to reveal the character of Lafkos, a beautiful and laid back traditional medieval village. The aim is to capture a sense of place in a loose, playful style whilst addressing the rudiments of drawing and perspective. I will help you to focus on the main elements of a composition without getting too hung up on unnecessary detail.

Our painting holidays in Europe are set in the delightful Mediterranean fishing village of Kalkan, Turkey and the white washed village of Frigiliana, Spain, which was voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourism authority. We also run a two centred holiday in Bulgaria – set in the spectacular Rhodope Mountains and the ancient cultural town of Plovdiv.
Our painting holidays in Europe are designed for small groups of artists of all standards.
The aim is to inspire you to develop your painting technique and style by letting you immerse yourself in the landscape and culture of these regions.
Our resident professional artist, Anna Martin, will guide you to improve your skills, providing individual attention. You will return home with a sense of achievement (and some lovely work!)
The painting holidays run in a very relaxed and informal atmosphere; you choose the medium and set your own pace. You can paint all day if you want or you can spend the afternoons round the pool, on the beach, or exploring, eating and socialising.
